Esports is a mix series of alternate future/universe skins in League of Legends. Set in a world where champions represent the winners of the World Championship or celebrate eSports tournaments.

Esports encompases four sub-themes: Challenger, Conqueror, World Champions, and World Championship.

Some say holding up the Summoner's Cup before a stadium of cheering fans is the greatest prize... others say it's the cash. The folks who make Skins on the League of Legends team? We think that the best part of winning Worlds is being immortalized in your favorite game. And we aren't biased!

Skins

Revenue from the sale of tournament related cosmetics goes directly towards the prize pool of the World Championship and the Mid-Season Invitational.
Conqueror Jax deviate from the usual design of the Championship and Conqueror thematics and instead were designed around the 2020 World Championship and 2021 Mid-Season Invitational creative direction instead.
- Ironically, in the Inkborn Fables set of Teamfight Tactics game, the same skin used for the Jax champion token is red like the other skin counterparts.
All Conqueror skins were released during the Mid-Season invitational.
- All previous Challenger skins have been placed in the Conqueror skin theme, and each subsiquent Mid-Season invitational skin will be a Conqueror named skin.
The Conqueror skin is chosen based off of a champion's presence during the preceding World Championship and the Championship skin is chosen based off of a champion's presence during the preceding Mid-Season Invitational.^[1]

Skins

Revenue from team skins goes directly towards its respective player.
The TPA skins are the first in the series, even though they represent the season 2 winners.
- They are also the first skins in the game with a shared splash art, establishing a tradition that has continued in the series.
  - The iG skins are the first set to break this tradition.
- The skins for Fnatic were released later in 2014.
In order for a player to be eligible for a skin they must either: participate in 2 games during the play in or group stages that affect the team's advancement to the knockout stage or participate in 1 game during the knockout stage.^[1]
In order for a champion to be eligible for the selection of a team skin, they must be played by the player at least once during the tournament.^[1]
Starting in 2022, Prestige versions of team skins are awarded to the most valuable player in the World Championship Finals.
- In universe, prestige skins are showcased as major fans of their respective team.
- Prestige DRX Aatrox was awarded to Kingen for being the MVP of the 2022 World Championship Finals.^[2]
- Prestige T1 Jayce was awarded to Zeus for being the MVP of the 2023 World Championship Finals.
The FPX skins were first World Champion skins to receive chromas, as requested by FPX. They represent the colors of the jerseys worn by FPX. The chromas are exclusive to the FPX Signature Edition mega bundle.
- Future team skin chromas were later incorporated into the indiviual Signature Edition bundles due to feedback about tying the chromas solely to the mega bundle.
Doinb picked Malphite for his team skin due him being the only champion his wife could play.
SKT T1 Sivir was replaced by SKT T1 Kalista due to Sivir not being the champion requested by Bang.
Faker initially chose Ahri after his winning performance in 2013 but was given SKT T1 Zed due to Popstar Ahri being in development at the time.

Team skins often include references requested by players and represent the symbolic aspects or most played champions of each winning player for the respective World Championship year. These skins sometimes incorporate the Summoner's Cup. Additionally, most recall animations are based on actions or dances that players submit to Riot.
- The cats from FPX Vayne's recall reference four stray cats that hung around FPX's training base. One of them was later adopted by Lwx and named Wutong.^[3]
- DWG Kennen was inspired by Nuguri's name, which means "raccoon dog" (너구리) in Korean.
- DWG Leona was inspired by Princess Saren Saki from Princess Connect! Re:Dive, as requested by BeryL.
- EDG Yuumi was inspired by Meiko's cat, Raccoon.
- DRX Ashe was inspired by Elysia from Honkai Impact, as requested by BeryL.
- T1 Bard and his meeps are designed as rabbits, inspired by the K-pop group NewJeans. Keria's favorite group and the singers of the 2023 Worlds anthem.
- Prestige Battle Academia Lux appears in T1 Bard's recall as a reference to Keria's desire to have a team skin for Lux, due to her being his favorite champion. However, he wasn't able request her because he did not play her during Worlds 2023.
  - Prestige Battle Academia Lux is Keria's favorite skin and was the skin he played during 2022 world championship.
  - Battle Academia Lux's face can be seen on the plate when consuming T1 Bard's Caretaker's Shrine.
- The dog from T1 Jinx's recall references Gumayusi's dog, Doongi.
- SKT T1 Lee Sin appears in T1 Lee Sin's recall, in which both recreate the Spider-Man Point at Spider-Man meme.
- T1 Orianna features the motif of 4 stars on her crown and in her Command: Attack and Command: Dissonance visual effects. This symbolizes Faker's four world championship victories.
- T1 Orianna's Command: Shockwave features references to four of Faker's other iconic champions including: Ryze's book, Syndra's helmet, Azir's staff, and Zed's blades.
- T1 Orianna's recall features a dragon that references the Imoogi, a mythological Korean dragon, as well as mountains, the moon, and the sun—symbols traditionally associated with the Korean king's throne. The moon and sun are also visible in the 2023 T1 splash art.

Skins

Revenue from the sale of tournament related cosmetics goes directly towards the prize pool of the World Championship and the Mid-Season Invitational.
Worlds 2020 LeBlanc deviate from the usual design of the Championship and Conqueror thematics and instead were designed around the 2020 World Championship and 2021 Mid-Season Invitational creative direction instead.
All Worlds skins were released during their respective World Championship year and are there to celebrate the competition itself.
- Worlds 2012 Riven was rereleased as Reignited Worlds 2012 Riven due to the original version being released as a rare skin. The original version has minor model changes and adjusted visual effects.
  - Worlds 2012 Riven is obtainable through a request to player support once a player has obtained all current skins while Your Shop is active.
- Worlds 2017 Ashe was the first Championship skin to recieve chroma, which could only be obtained through purchasing a mission pack and subsequently complete those missions.
Worlds 2018 Kha'Zix is the only Championship skin to receive chromas for all teams that participated in the 2018 World Championship.
Starting in 2021, the Championship skin line was replaced by the Worlds skin line as the thematic to celebrate the World Championship.^[1]
- On V13.20, all Championship skins were renamed to Worlds skins.
