Amara was a corrupt merchant and aristocrat based in Piltover, who was secretly an agent of the
Black Rose.
Background[edit | edit source]
Early Life[edit | edit source]
Not much is known about Amara's early life. At some point during her younger years, she made a fortune as a merchant in Piltover and had a son named Rohan. Secretly, she was also a mage inducted into the
Black Rose, and would protect the cabal's interests by spying on the people of Piltover.
Piltovan Bicentennial[edit | edit source]
In exchange for her generous donations to the esteemed Piltover Academy, Amara was allowed certain leniencies in regard to her trading ventures.[1] Thus, she was one of the several people affected when the newly-appointed Councilor , in his desire to ensure the safety and protection of the Hexgate, ordered the Enforcers to strictly inspect and seize all illegal merchandise that went through them.[2]
With her business now in legal trouble, Amara went to Councilor hextech research and that she would be first in line to any hextech advancements that he made if she chose to support him. Delighted at the chance of obtaining hextech advancements for herself, Amara eagerly accepted Jayce's offer, which lead him to make similar offers with everyone else who had been affected by his decision to tighten security around the Hexgate.[2]
for help and he offered to make other possible arrangements to ensure that the leniencies that she once enjoyed remained intact. However, when Councilor informed Jayce of this development, he decided to try a different approach and told Amara that he was looking for new investors for hisArrival of General Medarda[edit | edit source]
After the Black Rose had killed [3] The general's sudden arrival caught Amara's attention and she began requesting in-person meetings with her, but Ambessa refused every time. The next few days were tumultuous, and after a killed three of Piltover's councilors, Amara was present at the service for them. The service was soon attacked by Zaunite terrorists and eventually put down by Ambessa herself.[4]

At some point after the attack, Ambessa finally accepted Amara's requests for a meeting, and she arrived to discuss a certain "debt," referring to a child of Ambessa's that she had hidden away from them. Amara ambushed Ambessa and her lieutenant, , with magic, and revealed herself as a Black Rose agent. Amara tried to kill Ambessa, but the general bested Amara and ended her life. Amara promised that her death would mean nothing, warning Ambessa that she should have given up the feud.
Ambessa later covered up Amara's connection to the Black Rose, blaming her death on Zaunite assassins and using the fabricated incident as one of her excuses to instate martial law in Piltover.[5]
Appearance[edit | edit source]
Amara was an elderly woman with gray hair, very pale skin, and dark purple eyes. She was often seen wearing expensive Piltovan clothing with red gems and golden accessories. She also wore purple eye-shadow, dark burgundy lipstick, and a burgundy marking resembling a Bindi on her forehead.
Personality[edit | edit source]
Amara was shrewd and cunning, and was able to easily dance her way through Piltovan politics. She cared a great deal about her business and showed no hesitation in confronting those who obstructed her for any reason. She was also open to making lucrative business deals, even if it meant crossing lines and causing corruption. Secretly, Amara lived a double life as an agent of the Black Rose, and she would exercise this same ruthlessness in service to the cabal.

- Magical Physiology: As a member of the
Black Rose, Amara had access to their magic and could summon covered in thorns to ensnare her enemies, and was able to mold these thorns into the shape of a dark metal dagger.

Piltovan elite.
Relations[edit | edit source]
Black Rose[edit | edit source]
At some point in her life, Amara learned she was a mage and was inducted into the ranks of the Black Rose cabal, eventually serving as an agent to defend their interests in Piltover. Amara was fiercely loyal to the Black Rose and was willing to give up her own life for a chance to fulfill her mission to assassinate on orders.[6] Amara's mission failed, but even as she died she taunted Ambessa, claiming that her death meant nothing and the Black Rose would eventually win their feud.
Piltover[edit | edit source]
Amara had business contracts with several members of Piltover's ruling council, most notably Councilors
, , and . She would also eventually secure a lucrative hextech deal with after he became a councilor. She was a prominent and influential figure in Piltover, and was invited to and attended the memorial service for Councilors Bolbok, , and .Although Amara was a spy for the Black Rose, the people of Piltover remained unaware of this fact even after her death. Amara's death was later blamed on Zaun and used by as one of the reasons for the assembly she called in the destroyed Council chamber, where they enacted martial law.
[edit | edit source]
As one of the Black Rose's loyal agents, Amara was aware of the their feud with Ambessa and was thus hostile to her, albeit secretly. Under the guise of an aristocrat from Piltover's mercantile clans, Amara persistently requested meetings with Ambessa to the point she found it annoying and eventually gave in. When Amara finally met Ambessa alone, she attempted to assassinate her. The assassination failed, and Ambessa killed Amara.
