Ability power

 Ability power, or AP, is one of the two main offensive stats that binds champions to certain item builds, and the counterpart to  attack damage. Unlike attack damage, ability power does not have a tangible, baseline effect. Apart from increasing damage, it also most commonly scales the potency of indirect-combat or utility effects (for example, slows and movement speed buffs).

Ability power is defined by the lack of innate multiplicative synergy that attack damage has with attack speed, critical strike chance & critical strike damage, and attack effects. Because of that, champions that utilize ability power either:

1. Have effectively none or purposeless basic attacks after a certain point in the game, meaning they are pure ability-casters (e.g. Syndra, Xerath, Swain, Ahri, etc.) OR
2. Are purposefully designed to have modified basic attacks or abilities that explicitly scale off of some or all of those same statistics that attack damage-utilizing champions do (e.g. Zoe, Kayle, Katarina, Diana, etc.).
   

• Ability power stacks additively, and each point acquired directly adds to the statistic (1:1).

Every champion starts with 0 ability power, which does not increase through growth per level. Ability power is gained from any source other than levels, for example from buffs, items, runes, and others.

Gold Value

• Ability power has a gold value of 20 per point.

Ability power as scaling

Effects may benefit from (scale off of) a percentage/ratio, of the total amount of AP. When referring to these scaling ratios, this is always shortened to simply "AP".

Many abilities, items and runes scale off of ability power through those ratios. Note that AP scaling does not necessarily mean magic damage dealt; ratios can be assigned to any damage type.

The following 22 champions do not have  ability power ratios on any of their abilities: Aatrox, Ambessa, Camille, Darius, Dr. Mundo, Draven, Garen, K'Sante, Kayn, Kled, Naafiri, Nilah, Olaf, Pyke, Riven, Samira, Sett, Talon, Urgot, Xayah, Yone, and Zed.

• The ability with the largest AP ratio is Annie's Summon Tibbers, with a maximum AP ratio of (+ 615% AP) counting the initial cast of (+ 75% AP) and the target taking damage from all 45 ticks of Tibbers aura damage ((+ 12% AP) per tick).
• The second and third bounces of Nami's Ebb and Flow scale exponentially, however the low base ratio means it will not beat other spells at normal levels of AP.

Slow

A unit that is slowed has reduced  movement speed for the duration. Slow percentages cannot reduce a target below  110 movement speed. Some slows will instead modify the target's movement speed to a static value, which may not be further reduced nor increased.

Only the slow with the highest value is taken into movement speed calculations. All additional slows are ignored until the higher-valued slow wears off. The strength of slows may amplify or decay over their duration. Slows of the same debuff cannot stack and will instead refresh on each application unless otherwise stated.

Realm of Death

COOLDOWN: 140 / 120 / 100

Active: Mordekaiser slows the target enemy champion, then banishes them with him to the Death Realm for a few seconds, cancelling all interactions with non-banished units.

Additionally, Mordekaiser heals himself for a portion of the target's maximum health and temporarily steals a portion of their current  attack damage,  ability power,  total attack speed,  maximum health,  armor,  magic resist, and size.

If the target dies while inside the Death Realm, Mordekaiser keeps his stolen stats until they respawn.

Innate: Syndra collects Splinters of Wrath that enhance her abilities based on the number of them collected, up to a maximum amount. She can collect them from dealing damage to enemy champions, ranking up her abilities, and killing large minions.

Collecting a Splinter of Wrath from an enemy restores  mana for Syndra.

At the maximum amount of Splinters, her  ability power is increased.

Innate: Thresh's  armor does not increase by  leveling up.

Innate: Enemy champions and large enemies that die near Thresh will drop a Soul for a period. Thresh automatically collects Souls near him or Dark Passage.

Active: Nami unleashes a stream of water onto the target champion or herself, which then bounces to nearby champions up to twice, alternating between enemies and allies and Nami.
