Similar to Kai'Sa, I think that Galio's new kit is great fun - but the direction that Riot failed to capture any of the original champion's theme. I gave the new Grand Entrance kit to Aatrox, and I'm currently working on new kit for Galio that I hope better serves his original gameplay scope while also being compatible with his new lore - he's made of magic-absorbing rock, after all.

  • An icon for Galio's ability Hero's Entrance The Colossus (Innate)
    • Innate: Interact with an allied or fallen turret to begin a 2 second channel. Upon completion, Galio manifests as The Colossus, which has modified basic abilities. The Colossus is a separate unit and is classified as a structure, cannot attack or move, has 1000 (+200 Growth) health, 60 (+1 per minute) armor and 100 (+1 per minute)) magic resistance. Galio and the target allied turret are in Stasis for the duration. Damage in excess of The Colossus' health is not transferred to Galio nor the turret.
  • An icon for Galio's ability Colossal Smash Colossal Smash (Q)
    • Active: Galio's next attack deals 10 / 20 / 30 / 40 / 50 (+100% AD) (+50% AP) (+40% bonus MR) magic damage to his target and surrounding enemies.
    • The Colossus: The Colossus rears back and then performs a sweeping attack, damaging all enemies in a large cone.
  • An icon for Galio's ability Shield of Durand Idol of Demacia (W)
    • Active: Galio charges for up to 2 seconds, redirecting all damage dealt to allies and neutral monsters over an increasing-radius area to himself. Galio gains grey health equal to 30 / 35 / 40 / 45 / 50 (+8% per 100 bonus magic resistance) of the damage he takes. At the end of the duration or upon reactivation, Galio heals himself and surrounding allies equal to his grey health.
    • Idol of Demacia cannot be interrupted.
    • The Colossus: Idol of Demacia has considerably larger range.

  • An icon for Galio's ability Justice Punch Winds of War (R)
    • Active: Galio summons a phalanx of soldiers made of wind that charge from one fountain to the other down the target lane, dealing damage per half second to enemies caught in their wake. Minions take 4x damage.
    • Alternatively, the effect is linear and in a target direction but originates from one edge of the map and travels to the other. This means he could use it up-river, but depending on his location the effect would still take a while to get there.
    • Winds of War can be activated during The Colossus.

Development[edit | edit source]

This rework began by exploring the theme of "big", similar to how my custom champion Mantis explores what it means to be small. While a fun area to explore - many of the mechanics are not suitable for League of Legends' genre.

    • Removed Shield passive.
    • Active: For the next 4 seconds, Galio intercepts all hostile projectiles and stores 20 / 25 / 30 / 35 / 40 (+8% per 100 bonus MR) (+8% per 100 bonus Armor) of all the damage he takes as Grey Health. After the 4 seconds, Galio restores health equal to his Grey Health.
  • An icon for Galio's ability Winds of War Winds of War (E)
    • Moved to [E] from [Q].
    • Gust damage reduced to 30 / 50 / 70 / 90 / 110 (+15% AP) from 60 / 95 / 130 / 165 / 200 (+75% AP).
    • Tornado now deals 75 / 125 / 175 / 225 / 275 (+40% AP) magic damage instantly instead of 30 / 40 / 50 / 60 / 70 (+ 60% AP) (+ 6% of target's maximum health) over 1.5 seconds.
    • Gust and tornado damage is now mutually exclusive.
      • Revised Tooltip: Galio unleashes two gusts of wind that arc to either side before converging at the target location, dealing 30 / 50 / 70 / 90 / 110 (+15% AP) magic damage to enemies they pass through or 75 / 125 / 175 / 225 / 275 (+40% AP) magic damage to enemies caught where the winds collide.
    • Tornado duration increased to 5 seconds from 1.5.
    • New Tornado now continually moves toward Galio, with 220 movement speed.
    • New Tornado now displaces enemies it passes through, applying knockdown but otherwise is non-interrupting.

  • RuneScape's Queen Black Dragon
    An icon for Galio's ability Hero's Entrance Shadow of the Colossus (R)
    • Active: After a 1 second channel, Galio leaps into the air and swells to his true size, landing beyond the outer edge of the battlefield at the target location. While in Colossal Form, Galio has modified abilities; has a static attack speed of 0.4; has a static movement speed of 220, as well as being limited to moving outside of the battlefield's usual perimeter; and is untargetable and invulnerable.
    • Range: 2500 / 4000 / 5500
  • An icon for Galio's ability Colossal Smash Colossal Smash (Innate)
    • Innate: Colossal Smash's damage now applies on each of Galio's attacks, but each attack has a telegraphed delay and affects his attack target's location at the time of begining the wind-up. The effect has a slight amount of leading AI, similar to Piercing Light.
  • An icon for Galio's ability Justice Punch Justice Punch (Q)
    • Active: Galio rears an arm and then slams it into the ground, dealing magic damage and knocking aside all enemies over a wide area. The delay is telegraphed by casting a rectangular shadow across the battlefield.
    • Galio leaves his arm resting on the battlefield for a time, functioning as impassible terrain. Galio's arm has X health and can be attacked to cause him to retract it, taking 1 damage from champion basic attacks. This damage is not applied to Galio's true health.
  • An icon for Galio's ability Shield of Durand Shield of Durand (W)
    • Active: Galio begins a 2 second channel, reducing the damage allies within a 350-700 radius area take by 20 / 25 / 30 / 35 / 40 (+8% per 100 bonus MR) (+8% per 100 bonus Armor), the area increasing over the duration.
    • At the end of the channel or upon reactivation, Galio captivates all enemies within the area for 0.5-1.5 (based on charge time) seconds.
  • An icon for Galio's ability Winds of War Winds of War (E)
    • Active: Galio draws his wings back and then unleashes a mighty gust, dealing magic damage and slowing all enemies over a huge area. The delay is telegraphed and the affected area is animated like wind being drawn out of the area, although this has no immediate effect.
  • Cancel (R)
    • Active: Ends the effects early.
