Background
Arrel was one of Riven's sisters-in-arms who fought alongside her in the Noxian invasion of Ionia. She was a tracker known for her quiet, standoffish nature, and was always accompanied by four drakehounds; named First, Second, Third, and Fourth, whom she formed a close bond with. After she and her sisters were caught in the explosion of Singed's chemical bomb, Arrel's lungs were ravaged by the contamination, and causing her to suffer vivid nightmares and cough up blood years after the invasion had already ended. When the war was over, Arrel began hunting bounties in the empire's service, taking jobs from Zaun to Tokogol, until she was eventually called back to capture Riven, the deserter from their old warhost. She, Marit, Teneff, and Erath were all placed under the command of the runesmith Tifalenji. Unlike Marit (whom she disliked greatly), Arrel and Teneff simply wished to bring Riven back in chains and later turned on Tifalenji for lying about their true objective, which was to kill Riven and steal back her runeblade for the ones who forged it. After Marit and Tifalenji were slain and Riven turned herself in, Arrel parted ways with the group, claiming that she was of better service to Noxus on her own.

Background
General Marcus Du Couteau was the head of House Du Couteau and the leader of Du Couteau Assassin's Guild. He was married to Lady Soreana and had two daughters from her: Katarina and Cassiopeia, also Marcus adopted Talon into his family. At the start of Great Mage Rebellion Marcus was killed while trying to assassinate Grand General Swain.

Background
Erath was a blade squire who came from a tribe of shepherds in the Dalamor Plain, which had been recently assimilated into Noxus before he was born. Erath's father Jobin fought in the Ionian war, but never returned, with his only remains being a small bone pendant Erath kept around his neck. Years later, Erath earned his position as squire through a blood trial against his cousin, and he trained hard and studied the Noxian language so he could serve his empire. After the disaster at Fae'lor, Erath was placed in the service of the runesmith Tifalenji, along with Marit, Arrel, and Teneff, the former compatriots of Riven, to travel to Ionia and arrest the deserter. Their journey through enemy territory was deadly and miserable, and Erath was given menial tasks like setting camp and tending their beasts: the pack basilisk Talz and Marit's saurian mount, Lady Henrietta. They soon met a group of Noxian deserters in an Ionian village, among them Erath's father Jobin, and despite receiving shelter and supplies from him, Erath felt betrayed that he was alive and had abandoned their family. At the site of Singed's chemical attack, the party was attacked by the Navori Brotherhood, who claimed that Jobin had sold them out, and after defeating the Ionians, Erath discarded his father's pendant. When the hunters located Riven in her farmstead, Erath and Tifalenji went searching the farm for the broken shards of her runeblade. Erath found Riven's adoptive father, Asa Konte, hiding in the cellar, and Tifalenji took the old farmer hostage to force Riven to give them the remaining shards. Tifalenji then revealed that her true objective was to recover the runeblade and have Riven killed, causing Teneff and Arrel to turn on her. Marit sided with Tifalenji and was slain in a duel by Riven, and shortly after, Erath rescued the sisters by killing Tifalenji. After this, Erath took ownership of Lady Henrietta and parted ways with the Arrel, Teneff, and Riven so he could settle the score with his father. Upon returning to the village, Erath learned his father hadn't betrayed him and that he had been tortured and killed by the Brotherhood for refusing to divulge his son's location. Erath mourned his father and took his remains back with him to Noxus.

Erzsi was a former slave to the king of Urtis before the Noxian conquest of the kingdom, where she was liberated by Captain Farron and Darius, who killed the king after she refused to die for him. After this, Erzsi joined the Trifarian Legion in pursuit of earning glory in combat.

Amoline Kiosar-Hastur was the wife of Gregori the Gray and the biological mother of Annie. Formerly a student at 1 Ravenbloom Conservatory, Amoline fled from the Black Rose after her headmistress Telsi and the Arbiter of Thorns infused her with the malevolent fire demon Tybaulk, which was once a servant of Mordekaiser. She ran away with Gregori to the northern Ironspike Mountains, and the two fell in love and settled down in the far reaches of the empire, where the Rose could not find them. The demon was eventually infused into a stuffed teddy bear, which was a gift for their daughter, Annie. Around 989 AN, Gregori and Annie both fell ill, and while tending her daughter's fever, Amoline mysteriously vanished while fetching icy water from the river. She was never found by the Black Rose or her family, and Annie naïvely believed she would one day return. (The render is Annie's drawing of her, providing the closest known depiction of her appearance.)

Gregori Hastur, also known as Gregori the Gray, was the husband of Amoline Kiosar and the father of Annie. After Amoline was infused with Tybaulk and fled the Black Rose, Gregori met her on the outskirts of the conservatory and left with her to the far reaches of Noxus past the Ironspike Mountains during the reign of Boram Darkwill. The two started a life together and had a daughter, Annie, but when she was still very young Gregori and his daughter fell ill with a deathly fever, which only subsided after Amoline mysteriously disappeared while fetching cold water for them by the river. Gregori eventually remarried to a woman named Leanna, who had a daughter named Daisy. As Annie's abilities as a pyromancer began to manifest, Leanna showed discomfort, but Gregori continued to dote on Annie, causing friction within their family. This culminated in a tragic accident where Daisy drowned in the river, and when Leanna blamed Annie for this, her grief caused her to lose control of her powers and burned their entire house down. Gregori ran through the flames and saved his daughter, but after doing so, he was crushed to death by rubble falling from the ceiling.

Background
Marinos was a human child from an island off the coast of Noxus who found and named Smolder when he was just a hatchling. The two began an unlikely and secret friendship, and Marinos kept Smolder hidden so that he would not be taken away and auctioned off on the mainland. Years passed, and Marinos would tell Smolder stories about fire-breathing dragons and the kingdom of ghosts. They would also play games together, like "dragon attack." In time, Marinos grew into an adult and began to raise a family, and due to his new responsibilities, he was unable to play games with Smolder like they used to.

Marit was an elite rider from the Bloodcliffs who wielded a glaive and rode a terrifying saurian beast named Lady Henrietta Eliza Vaspasian IV of Orogonthis, and she was disliked by Arrel for her haughty and wrathful demeanor. After Marit and her sisters were caught in the explosion of Singed's chemical bomb, Marit suffered gruesome injuries and scarring which burned off most of her face, to the point she was forced to wear a mask to conceal the damage. The end of the war also saw Marit's family stripped of their noble titles and estates as part of Swain's Trifarian Revolution, though Marit insisted on still being referred to as "my lady" years later. Secretly, Marit had always been jealous of Riven and coveted her runeblade, believing she was always better suited to wield it. As a result, she eagerly joined Tifalenji's mission to find and capture the deserter along with Arrel, Teneff, and Erath. Their group made a long and difficult journey into enemy territory, where the Navori Brotherhood and the land itself fought against them, and eventually reached Riven in her adoptive father's farmstead, where Marit waited for a chance to take vengeance for her perceived betrayal. Though Teneff and Arrel turned on Tifalenji for lying about their true objective, which was to kill Riven and steal back her runeblade for the ones who forged it, Marit sided with the runesmith and fought Riven in a duel to the death for her blade, which ended in her defeat. As she lay dying, Riven asked Marit to forgive her, but Marit refused to do so.

Azizi Medarda was the husband of Ambessa and the father of Kino and Mel. He was known for being an outstanding merchant with smooth tongue and an excellent memory, and it was for this reason that he was arranged into marriage with Ambessa to help manage House Medarda's business interests. Although Azizi and Ambessa had not chosen each other and frequently took partners on the side, they maintained a strong relationship and cared for one another greatly, and Azizi did his best to raise their children while Ambessa was off fighting the empire's wars. Azizi was known to be a doting father to Kino and Mel, to the point that Ambessa believed he was spoiling them. During the Medardan Succession War, Azizi remained in Bel'zhun with his children, where he swore to prevent Ambessa's rival Ta'Fik from taking the city in her absence. Over the next few months, Azizi commanded a detachment of Ambessa's elite warband, the Wolf's Reapers, to disrupt the flow of goods on the trade routes to Nashramae, which Ta'Fik's forces in Tereshni heavily depended upon. He was later instructed to try and sway Steward Dorrik to Ambessa's side by ending the import of bolbo heads from Trannit, which was ruled by Ta'Fik's staunchest ally, Steward Smik. Before he could enact this plan, Azizi and Mel were caught in a carriage accident which suddenly ended his life. Azizi's death devastated Kino and Mel, and their investigation into the matter would uncover evidence that led Kino to believe it had been orchestrated by the Black Rose.

Hostlord Menelik Medarda was the aging patriarch of House Medarda, as well as Ambessa's mentor and grandfather, who was responsible for the annexation of Bel'zhun into Noxus. After being badly wounded in a campaign in northern Shurima, Menelik was visited on his deathbed by Kindred, who granted him a vision of his clan's destruction should he fail to name a strong successor. Unbeknownst to Ambessa, Menelik intended to name her cousin Ta'Fik to this position, but he was killed in his sleep by Rudo before he could make the announcement. With the line of succession unclear, Menelik's death led directly into a brutal succession war which would greatly diminish the power and influence of the Great House, as Ambessa ruthlessly seized control of the clan and killed anyone who opposed her.

Niander Ordylon, also known as the Beastmaster, as a famed trainer of deadly creatures in the Reckoner arenas of the Immortal Bastion. After his business fell into financial trouble, Ordylon became desperate and spent the last of his coin so he could accompany Commander Ysard Tomyri on a perilous expedition into the Ixtali jungles, where he planned to find and capture an enormous basilisk to use in the arenas and pay off his debts. Ysard was not fond of Ordylon on account of his relaxed and confident demeanor, but his skills as a translator with the local population proved useful to their expedition. When they eventually landed, Ordylon found and attempted to capture the basilisk, which swiftly killed him and his trappers.

Teneff was one of Riven's sisters-in-arms who fought alongside her in the Noxian invasion of Ionia. After she and her sisters were caught in the explosion of Singed's chemical bomb, Teneff assumed Riven had died a hero of Noxus and stubbornly refused to believe otherwise. After the war was over, Teneff welcomed Swain's revolution and dedicated herself fully to the new regime, and she was eventually stationed in Fae'lor, where she enjoyed fighting in the arena. Years later, a disaster struck the region, and when Teneff's sisters Arrel and Marit arrived in the service of the runesmith Tifalenji and their blade squire Erath, Teneff was immediately suspicious of their mandate (which was to find and capture the presumed dead Riven), but joined them anyway to see if Riven was truly still alive. They made a long and difficult journey into enemy territory, where the Navori Brotherhood and the land itself fought against them. They eventually reached Riven in her adoptive father's farmstead, and Teneff urged her to return to the new Noxus so she could face proper justice for her desertion. She and Arrel later turned on Tifalenji for lying about their true objective, which was to kill Riven and steal back her runeblade for the ones who forged it. After Marit and Tifalenji were slain, Riven turned herself in and traveled back with Teneff to Noxus in chains, as Erath and Arrel both went to fulfill their duties to Noxus elsewhere.

Tifalenji was a secretive runesmith who, on the orders of the Black Rose, recruited a small band of hunters to travel to Ionia and recover the runeblade of Riven. Among these were Riven's former compatriots—the drakehound handler Arrel, the elite rider Marit, and the brutal soldier Teneff—and a blade squire named Erath to tend their beasts. On the long and difficult journey through enemy territory, Tifalenji remained singleminded and cryptic about her goals, leading the hunters to believe their mission was to bring the deserter home so she could face justice. In reality, Tifalenji believed Riven's life was forfeit the moment she left Noxus, and was enraged when she discovered the blade had been shattered. To recover the broken pieces, Tifalenji took Riven's adoptive father, the old farmer Asa Konte, as a hostage, before revealing she intended to kill Riven for the runeblade's desecration. Arrel and Teneff turned on Tifalenji as a result, but the runesmith won Marit to her side with the promise of vengeance and ownership of the shattered blade. After Marit was slain by Riven, Tifalenji stole the sword from her and attempted to kill all the hunters with her magic, but was subsequently stabbed through the back by Erath.

Ysard Tomyri was an ambitious Noxian commander who was obsessed with her own personal glory and conquests, which she hoped would restore her family's honor after House Tomyri fell victim to Swain's purges. Originally the first officer of Captain Oditz, Ysard was finally given command of her own warship, the Ardentius, after putting in eight requests. Noxian High Command then sent her on an expedition to chart the jungles of Ixtal. After she ignored many warnings from the local population and her own crew, Ysard's expedition was subsequently annihilated by the deathly, primordial jungle, its mysterious diseases, and its ferocious wildlife. After fleeing from a massive basilisk, Ysard found the remains of a Noxian settlement and realized the territory was not unexplored after all, and that she had been sent there to die. Though she tried to return home, the jungle had already consumed the Ardentius, and Ysard eventually met her end as well.

Tora was a stablehand and aspiring young rider from Vindor who trained under Steward Amenesce so she would be allowed to join her elite band of scouts, the Scar's Rangers. She was an archer known for her strong and confident nature, and she had gained a reputation for breaking the hearts of young women. During the Medardan Succession War, Amenesce allowed Ambessa, Rictus, and a teenage recruit named Rell to stay in their city as guests, with Rell being allowed a day of riding lessons under the steward. Rell almost instantly developed a crush on Tora, who was amused by how awkward and flustered she became whenever they spoke. During the next month of travel to the Immortal Bastion on swifthorns, Rell and Tora grew closer, with Rell working hard to impress Tora with her spear-throwing skills after seeing her catch a deer with an arrow through the heart. Rell's first real battle in the Varju Mountain pass was also Tora's first, and as they prepared to ambush Smik's forces, Tora gave Rell a memento: a good luck charm made from the first shoe of her first horse. Tora claimed Rell needed it more than her, after which Rell affectionately called her a "show off". After a deeply traumatic experience on the battlefield, Rell and Tora privately found each other, both shaken and upset, and Tora helped comfort her. At the Medarda compound in Rokrund Citadel, Rell and Tora celebrated a successful defense of the city together at the ballroom feast, where they danced together despite not knowing the steps, teased one another, and finally shared a kiss in the courtyard. Rell confided in Tora about Ambessa's plans to adopt her into the clan, as well as her reservations about Ambessa potentially only being interested in weaponizing her for her recently-discovered powers of ferromancy. Tora reassured her that Ambessa was admirable, and that she had nothing to worry about. Shortly after, both Tora and Rell were deceived by a shapeshifter who disguised herself as Ambessa, led Rell away, and kidnapped her. Tora was inconsolable after learning this the following morning. Rell, however, never saw her reaction, and by the time the Black Rose began experimenting on her, she believed Tora had already forgotten about her and was happily living her life without her back in Vindor.

Since Berholdt had the antidote on his person, Elise feigned a groveling apology to her husband, and after Berholdt had let his guard down, she stabbed him through the heart with a knife.
