Development

- Sett is voiced by Xander Mobus. He also voices
Supreme Cells Sett and 
Spirit Blossom Sett.
- Sett's Japanese voice actor is Takehito Koyasu.
- Both Xander and Takehito had acting roles in the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure franchise, a series that had heavy influence on Sett's design. Xander voiced Telence T. D'Arby[1] while Takehito voiced Dio Brando.

Haymaker recovery animation at high Grit, in which Sett makes a "reloading" motion with his bicep, was inspired by a bathroom fight scene in Mission Impossible: Fallout.[7] - Sett's code name in development was Grappler.
Universe

- His real name is Settrigh.
- Sett is in his mid to late 20s[8]
- Sett mostly relies on
brute force with kinetic energy and a small amount of Vastayan magic in combat.[12][13] - Sett's parents fell in love before the Noxian occupation of Ionia.[14]
- Sett and his mother's tribe are Vastayan wolverines.[15]

Sett's Calling Card loot item earnable in patch V9.24. It was awarded by "Impressing Sett" (scoring first blood in PvP games) and openable from January 14, 2020. The card contained a Sett Champion Permanent.

- "Everyone's got a plan, 'til they get slammed into the ground." references Mike Tyson's famous phrase "Everyone has a plan, until they get punched in the mouth.".
- "A wise master once said, 'Be like water.' Guess I'm kind of a tsunami." likely references Bruce Lee: ("Empty your mind, be formless, shapeless — like water. Now you put water in a cup, it becomes the cup; You put water into a bottle it becomes the bottle; You put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot. Now water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.")
- "Had a dream I lifted one of these." references an edit of Sett using
his ultimate on a turret, posted by Riot August on his Twitter. - "Spirited away!" references the Spirited Away movie.
- "Don't fear the guy who practiced one kick a thousand times. Fear the guy who puts his whole heart into one punch!" references Bruce Lee's quote ("I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times.").
- "Y'know what they say about messin' with the best." references a quote from the 1995 film Hackers ("Mess with the best, die like the rest.").
- "Get over here!" references Scorpion's iconic quote from the Mortal Kombat franchise.
"Aaaaand, SCENE!" is a reference to his own quote: 
"Aaaaand, SLAM!"- Radiant Serpent Sett shares quotes with:

- Sett is more human than animal due to only being half Vastayan.[18]
- He shares the beast folk appearance traits from popular anime where only his hair area indicates his beastial physical traits (ears).
- Sett's general appearance was inspired by characters from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.
- His
It Was Me! emote is a reference to Dio Brando and the It Was Me, Dio! meme. - The development loading screen had JoJo menacing ゴゴゴゴ letters on it.
- Sett's Japanese voice actor, Takehito Koyasu, also voices Dio Brando from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.

Spirit Blossom Sett Chromas: Catseye, Emerald, Night Blossom, Rose Quartz, Ruby, Sapphire
- This skin shares the Spirit Blossom theme with:
- He represents the Spirit of Challenge in the
Spirit Blossom festival.
- His Kanmei mother is the Spirit of Protection, and his Akana father is the Spirit of Abandonment.
- Sett is accompanied by two badger spirits - one Kanmei (blue/white), and one Akana (purple). They sit on Sett's shoulders when he is idle, but aid him when he fights by becoming spirit fists.
- The Kanmei badger is named Truffle, while the Akana one is named Southpaw.[20]
- His design was likely inspired by Inuyasha.
- Sett and
Aphelios are in a relationship, with Sett affectionally calling by the nickname Mooncake, as well as calling him as "Phel" (the same nickname used by Aphelios's sister Alune) in a letter to his mother.
