History[edit | edit source]

Establishment[edit | edit source]

Camavor was founded by the twins, Camor and Avora. Camor was a warlord who conquered their neighbors to expand their kingdom. He struck a deal with Grandmother Viper's brood when he pleaded for their aid. In exchange for the dragons lending their power to his army, Camavor would supply them with endless riches and livestock. They sealed their pact with the oath of Vol Visperi-Desinvei, which would bind the royal family to Viper's brood for generations. When Camor was mortally wounded by the Black Arrow of Astora, his sister Avora used Mikael's Chalice to heal him from near-death. Camor's sword, Sanctity, would be passed down to his heirs and used to signify the rightful ruler of Camavor.

The Great Darkin War[edit | edit source]

Legend once told of An icon representing Universe:Vladimir a prince in a kingdom threatened by the infamous Darkin, as their great war spilled into the rest of Valoran. With his father’s crown at stake, and many more heirs ahead of him in the line of succession, the unfortunate youth was traded to the fallen god-warriors as a hostage. Should he break faith with his new master, Vladimir would be slain. But like all his father’s promises, it was empty. He cared nothing for his own son, and broke his oath within the year.

But instead of killing him, his Darkin master had something altogether more amusing in mind. Amusing for him, at any rate. He offered Vladimir the chance to lead his armies against his father’s kingdom, an offer Vladimir gladly accepted. He destroyed his father’s city and presented his head to his master. Believing himself above other mortal vassals, and therefore worthy of the powerful blood magic, Vladimir was the first of his kind permitted to study this terrifying magic. His devotion earned him a place of favor in his patron’s warhost, and the right to practice hemomancy and enforce the darkin’s will on lesser beings. Over time, the god-warrior watched with amusement as Vladimir came to govern his subjects with as little mercy as the darkin themselves.[2]

At some point after being taken by his Darkin master, Vladimir started sending customary, yearly letters to his original kingdom to whoever was running Camavor at the time, which are typically responded by royal family.[3]

Ruination[edit | edit source]

At some point An icon representing Universe:Isolde Isolde creates a An icon representing Universe:Gwen doll. An icon representing Universe:Viego Viego becomes the king following his brother's death, while his niece An icon representing Universe:Kalista Kalista becomes the king's general. Viego meets and marries his queen, Isolde. An icon representing Universe:Hecarim Hecarim becomes the commander of the Iron Order.

Unable to interest himself in governance and having fallen in love, the nation begins to unravel under Viego's questionable leadership. Some of Viego's allies plot in secret to end their new king’s reign before it had begun. His nation’s enemies also see an opportunity to strike and send an assassin to slay him. During an assassination attempt, general Kalista was able to save the king's life but the assassin's blade poisons queen Isolde instead. With the kingdom's greatest priests and surgeons unable to remove the poison, the king dispatches Kalista to search for a cure and the Iron Order remain by the king's side in her absence. Kalista consults with multiple scholars, hermits and mystics throughout her journey but none could save the queen. She eventually discovers the existence of the Blessed Isles and the rumor that they may hold the secret to eternal life. She sets sail on one last voyage to the isles and, after much consideration, the island's inhabitants accept Kalista's request and asked her to bring the queen to the island, where they would cleanse her. They give her a special talisman that would allow her to part the island's mists but ask her to keep their secret.

While Kalista was away, the king's paranoia grows and he sends Hecarim and his knights to quell dissent within the kingdom. Hundreds are killed and many towns and villages are destroyed. Eventually the queen dies and Viego descends into madness, locking himself in his tower with the queen's corpse. Hecarim manipulates the king's grief to sanction invading foreign lands under the guise of avenging queen Isolde. But as they prepare to set sail, Kalista returns from her quest, only to find out she is too late. The king asks Kalista for what she has found, but upon seeing his mental state and remembering the promise she made with the people of the Blessed Isles, Kalista refuses to reveal what she has discovered and is imprisoned as a traitor. Eventually, at Hecarim's behest, she reveals what she has discovered and agrees to lead them to the isles.

The king and his army sail to the Blessed Isles and ask the island's masters to resurrect the queen. When the guardians refused, the king flew into a rage. He orders Kalista to kill anyone who opposes them and to ransack the city of Helia to find the cure. Kalista refuses the order and is stabbed by Hecarim before her forces clash with the Iron Order. A custodian later known as An icon representing Universe:Thresh Thresh guides Viego to the waters of life while Hecarim and his knights pillage the city. The ritual was half-successful, resurrecting the queen as a wraith.

Isolde, in her pain, anger and confusion, takes Viego's An icon for the item Blade of the Ruined King enchanted blade and thrusts it through his heart. The magic of the waters and the ancient sword clash, and the chamber’s energy erupted, tearing across the Isles. Hecarim and his knights fuse with their steeds, becoming wraiths, as they try to flee to their ships. With the barrier between the material and spirit realms shattered, the souls of the dead were trapped in eternal torment within the coiling Black Mist, and the newly dubbed Shadow Isles was abandoned by all right-thinking mortals.

Rune Wars[edit | edit source]

It is unknown how the civilization of the Kingdom of Camavor fared after the death of its king. Records of its existence were destroyed during the Rune Wars and, just like many other nations at the time, it is believed to have fallen into ruin.

Rise of the Sentinels[edit | edit source]

Centuries later, the king of Camavor would eventually return home with the assistance of a An icon representing Universe:Vex Yordle ally. He would bring with him the fragments of the deceased queen's soul, divided across multiple fetters, and resurrect her to his side. Following him were two Sentinels of Light, An icon representing Universe:Akshan Akshan and a Rookie. After being revived, Isolde rejected Viego after seeing the atrocities he had committed in order to bring her back. Prompted by the queen, Akshan killed her again, laying her to rest once more and reviving his allies. Infuriated, Viego lashed out against the Sentinels of Light, but was weakened with Isolde gone. An icon representing Universe:Gwen Gwen would bind Viego with the Hallowed Mist and the king of Camavor would be imprisoned in the land he once ruled.

Dragons[edit | edit source]

Camavoran Dragon taken by the Black Mist

Winged, elemental-breathing reptiles that can reach near-giant sizes over their long, long lifespans, they are the indisputable ruler of the skies. Both fearsome and majestic, dragons have a society that revolves around strength and might and because of their egoistic and narcissistic pride, mixing their blood with that of races outside of dragonkind are seen as an abomination, a cancer that must be eradicated utterly. Many dragons persecute such defiled creations and their perpetrators to no end, a thing that An icon representing Universe:Shyvana Shyvana, the Half-Dragon, found out firsthand.

Camavoran dragons are long and serpent-like in appearance with many tail ends. The dragons of Camavor bound themselves to the royal family when Camor, the first king of Camavor, pleaded with Grandmother Viper, the progenitor of all Camavoran dragons, to lend her strength to his army and help him build his empire, in exchange for limitless riches. They sealed their pact with the oath of Vol Visperi-Desinvein, which roughly translates to "will of (old slur for dragons) and (old slur for humans)".[4] The dragons were fiercely loyal to the royal family, however, they refused to accompany Camavor's last king, An icon representing Universe:Viego Viego, on his ill-fated quest to the Blessed Isles.[5] After the departure of their king, Camavor fell into ruin and the dragons began to decline as well. Some of them may have wandered over to the Shadow Isles and were ruined by the surrounding Black Mist, turning them into monstrous wraiths. An icon representing Universe:Smolder Smolder and his mother are among some of the last living dragons of Camavor.

Sanctity as seen on the cover of the Ruination novel

Sanctity, the An icon for the item Blade of the Ruined King Blade of the King, is a royal, magical weapon which has the ability to call upon the souls of kings to bring them back if wounded. It was first wielded by Camor, the first king of Camavor. The sword is considered the true symbol of the throne of Camavor as Sanctity is used to determine its next ruler. Heirs to the throne will attempt to bind their soul to the blade and if they survive the binding ritual, only then will they be crowned the ruler of Camavor. After being bound, the ruler of Camavor can manifest Sanctity at will. It has since been corrupted when its magic collided with the Waters of Life during the reign of Camavor's last king, An icon representing Universe:Viego Viego.

Government[edit | edit source]

Royal Family[edit | edit source]

The Royal Line of Camavor

Camavor is a kingdom of aggressive conquerors ruled by the Vol Kalah Heigaari royal family.

Military[edit | edit source]

Camavoran Soldiers taken by the Black Mist

The Camavoran military was one of the fiercest of its time, being able to wage wars beyond their lands. The military of Camavor consists of the Host and the many Knightly Orders. The Host is the primary army of Camavor, while the Knightly Orders provided additional military support. The Host is mostly comprised of lowborn citizens and has a lower status compared to the Knightly Orders. Highborn citizens preferred to join the Knightly Orders due to their greater wealth and prestige. The Knightly Orders have a strong questing culture and enjoy looting their enemies to fill their coffers. The Knightly Orders often pledge their service whenever a new monarch is corronated, as a sign of faith in their new ruler, but various orders have reneged on their promise or refused to pledge their service over the years. The armor they wore was ornate with feathery and draconic accents in their designs.

Iron Order[edit | edit source]

One of the most prominent knightly orders, the Iron Order was an elite group of soldiers tasked with protecting the King. They were the most powerful knightly order, in terms of political weight and military strength, during the reign of Camavor's last king. Lead by Knight-Commander An icon representing Universe:Hecarim Hecarim they were the soldiers that set sail with the King to the Blessed Isles. After the Ruination, they fused with their own riding horses becoming grotesque wraith abominations.
