Base gate

Base gates are a terrain feature found on Summoner's Rift that act as team-specific access to a base. Two such gates exist per team that create jungle entrances right outside the base: one is located between the top and middle lane, and the other one between the middle and bottom lane.

A team's champions may pass through their own base's gates in either direction as if it were open space. The enemy base's gates are treated as impassable terrain.

Interactions[edit | edit source]

The following section lists other specific interactions with base gates and excludes specific mechanics related to the champion being played treating base gates as terrain (enemy gates) or lack of terrain (ally gates) for their own pathfinding and/or targeting purposes (e.g. An icon representing Talon Talon's An icon for Talon's ability Assassin's Path Assassin's Path, An icon representing Kayn Kayn's An icon for Kayn's ability Shadow Step Shadow Step, An icon representing Qiyana Qiyana's An icon for Qiyana's ability Terrashape Terrashape).

  • These abilities will only activate their terrain effects if the target is unable to access the gate. If this is not fulfilled, then they will simply be pushed through the gate to no unique effect.
  • An icon representing Lillia Lillia's An icon for Lillia's ability Swirlseed Swirlseed will pass through the allied base gates, but not enemy base gates.
  • An icon representing Skarner Skarner's An icon for Skarner's ability Impale Impale specifically cannot be used to force a champion inside their enemy base gate. However, the champion can be pulled through a gate by Skarner casting the ability on them from the other side.
  • Lastly, traps cannot be placed inside a gate, own or enemy, under any circumstance.
