Universe

Main article: Yuumi (Character)
  • Yuumi is a magical cat familiar to a Yordle Enchantress named Norra.
  • Yuumi's name came from when she heard Norra say “you” and “me” and thought that was her name.[10]
    • In Solomon Islands Pijin, iumi (pronounced Yuumi) means "you and me".
  • The An icon representing Universe:Book of Thresholds Book of Thresholds was originally written by a Yordle anthropologist in order to study how Yordle magic works and how Yordles traverse the spirit realm. It has been added over the years by generations of Yordle mages who explored the various gateways to and from Bandle City.[11]
  • The Book of Thresholds was given sentience by one of its previous owners in order to protect itself from those who would use its powers for evil.[12][13] The Book of Thresholds essentially works to allow its keeper to traverse the spirit and physical realms using portals, and bypass the normal requirements for these portals. For example, most portals can only be seen and used by yordles, and only open at certain times of the year or in certain whether or when other characteristics are met. The portals contained in the Book of Thresholds can be used anytime by anyone (who is its Keeper). Every page contains a different portal to a different place. Book will always try to retrieve and repair the pages that were lost so that it can be whole again someday! Norra tore out the page that led to the place where she is trapped because she didn't want Book to follow her—she knew it would be too dangerous for Book, that it might fall into the wrong hands.[14]
  • Yuumi and Book have been looking for Norra for around 4 years.[15]
  • Yuumi is a literal cat so she doesn't understand many human concepts, though she may sense certain things better.[16]
  • Book is much more rational and risk-adverse than Yuumi, and prefers to stay on the path so it can keep itself and its keeper safe. Yuumi is much more playful with an element of unpredictable spontaneity. She is highly distractible, especially by worldly comforts such as food or naps. Plus she's a literal cat, so rational thought doesn't come to her easily. She can't even read.[17]

League of Legends

Gameplay

Main article: Yuumi (League of Legends)
  • Due to much of her intended gameplay consisting of not moving of her own volition like all other champions do and exclusively boosting the power of other champions, Yuumi has jokingly been referred to as an "item": an enhancement that merely empowers champions rather than a "full champion" herself. Riot have officially (and humorously) acknowledged this twice so far, by implementing the Teamfight Tactics item An icon for the item Yuumi Yuumi and the Swarm weapon drone {{{alttextfull}}} YuumiBot.[18]
  • The icon for An icon for Yuumi's ability You and Me! You and Me! is reused for the Teamfight Tactics item An icon for the item Yuumi Yuumi, which is named after her.

  • "Heehee! They're never gonna see us coming!" is a reference to Persona 5, in which the battle theme's ("Last Surprise") lyrics are "You'll never see it coming". This is a homage to the champion's voice actress, who also voiced Morgana, who is also a magical talking cat, in Persona 5.
  • In the Latin America localization, a unique phrase to detaching from an ally with the ability An icon for Yuumi's ability You and Me! You and Me!, "¿Me Perdonas?" ('Forgive me?') in reference to the meme of the same name used in Spanish-speak. Riot Games Latin America made a vote by request of the community in that region to choose what kind of pronunciation they want to be in the game.
